Zero Sum Single Cover Art

Can a three-minute song, or any work of art, help us, galvanize us, or move a mountain in troubled times? I mean, look at what the Scorpions did behind the Iron Curtain. It may not pay our grocery bill, but can it help us move, isolate a feeling, come together a little? An emphatic hells yes, say the fellows in Columbus, Ohio’s (can’t stop, won’t stop) quintet Moviola, with a new single out August 16. “Questionnaire” is a swirling, call-to-unarm, like Mort Sahl fronting the Soft Boys or Let’s Active. ”Hillbilly Effigy” is a doomsday-prepper allegory of sorts, straight outta southwest Ohio, (btw, written well before the song’s antagonist ascended to his current perch).

It’s a preview from Moviola’s 11th album, Cry Uncle, due next year.
